Day 1 - The Mean Green

Started the day off right with some lemon water. Drank about 6 ounces. I went to the gym, did 2 miles on the elliptical, then I went to the sauna for a good 15-20 minutes. Home to shower off all that detoxing. Then I ended my day with an hour ashtanga class.

And, time for my first day of green juice!

I made the Mean Green recipe from the Reboot Program:

6 Kale Leaves
1 Cucumber
4 Celery Stalks
2 Green Apples
1/2 Lemon
1 piece of ginger

I had this recipe for lunch and dinner. At lunch, I forgot the ginger. My first taste: The celery was a bit overpowering but it really wasn't bad. For dinner, I reduced the celery a bit and added a tiny bit of ginger. I do like that better. You can add a touch of stevia too (it's alkaline).

I can play with it. But really, it isn't bad tasting. Just different than what I'm used to. Part of it's appeal is envisioning the beautiful micronutrients, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, oxygen and chlorophyll (liquid sunshine) swirling around in my glass. I feel empowered with each sip I take. I am nurturing and loving my body. It's not just about my emotional tastebuds.

So, as you can see, I'm pretty optimistic right now. I know it's going to require a few OTHER changes in order to be successful. I'm going to have to get up earlier in the morning to allow time to make juice and prep lemon water. When I'm not fasting, I'll have to plan ahead and prepare healthy meal options. I'm kind of excited about it at the moment. I know me and I know there will be less optimistic moments ahead. But, that's ok.

***End of Day check-in***
I did have a moment of wanting to eat something (in the evening) but I totally tapped into my inner green goddess and stuck with the plan! I think part of the detoxing will be "withdrawals".

Also, purchased ph balance testing strips. I'll have to keep retesting to get a really accurate reading of my acid/alkaline status. But the first test done says I'm extremely acidic. So, we shall see if that continues or improves.
